| Can't get onto the chat itself
I love teenchat but I can never get onto it. When I go to get onto the chat it says its loading and then it says I need a spyware scan or something. I asked a friend and he said to clear my private data stuff but it didn't work. What else should I do?

This is a problem that effects a small number of users. Unfortunately we haven't been able to replicate it. I do know that some people have gotten back to me and told me that turning off AVG firewall allowed them to get in, but I don't think AVG is the source of the problem for everyone. I suggest you try another browser. If you're using Internet Explorer, try Firefox. | Status: Administrator Join Date: Apr 2009

It can also happen simply with a slow or unstable connection. I have heard of lots of people on saterlite connections having problems as well. I would second the advice on using FireFox, its much much better anyway and tends to solve the problem.

Try adding the following urls to your "allow list" on your firewall and/or virus software. chat.optichat.com teenchat.com This can fix it for many people. | Status: Administrator Join Date: Apr 2009

Some of these connection issues are related to the Security Software, either an Anti-Virus, Firewall, or Security Suite. If your having issues logging into the chats please send me a msg with a list of any and all the above stated software. I will attemp to assist you as best as possible.

| Same Problem, But A Little More To It
Before coming here i tried literally everything to try and get teenchat working again and none to my surprise, no luck. Firewall exceptions, tried 4 different browsers, safe mode.etc I came to the conclusion that it is something on my HDD that is stopping me from accessing the optichat server which links all the major rooms. I went to the optichat web site and tried all the rooms there, the only one that worked was the optichat self sponsored room. I even went the lengths of installing a virtual machine and it worked on that fine, so there is something in the ip comm path stopping me from getting into optichat rooms linked with teenchat. If i could have help with how the server is set up and a central ip (if alowed) to find out what exactly my problem is, that would be splendid! Although if this is too much then i don't blame anyone for not bothering haha. What a rather large post...for a first ![]() I also forgot to mention that ironically, it stopped working when we updated the internet. My friends computer was here not long ago and had no problems so that's not the issue. | |

The connection has timed out The server at chat.optichat.com is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web. That's what I get. | Status: Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2009
